Mission accomplished! I screened the film last Friday evening in Helena, Montana in front of the First Special Service Force Reunion gathering and it received a standing ovation! I believe we've done something of real value here folks. It was rewarding to see how touched and emotional the audience was following the film. I'm so proud to be a part of this amazing history and to do my part to share it with others. This is only the beginning though.
The version I showed and the one you'll be receiving is the "Director's Cut". It is 2:05 minutes long. Next comes a shorter theatrical version for festivals. This may sound like "pie in the sky" stuff but I received encouraging feedback from film makers who attended the screening and was urged to submit it to the Sundance Film Festival before the end of September. That is my next goal.
All of you are part of the story now and I will keep you informed as events unfold. Additionally, some of you may want extra copies to give to loved ones or others you might feel would enjoy the film. I am selling copies at $30 each. Hey, Christmas is around the corner! Seriously though, if you know of veteran groups or organizations that have a connection to a story like this it might be a nice gift.
I would also consider conducting a personal screening for any of you if someone would like to organize such an event and I could share more of the story and talk about the film!
We have a website, www.victoryremembered.com as well as a Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/victoryremembered . They are living sites and in the formative stages so lots of changes are forthcoming. Unfortunately, due to restrictions on public sales of the DVD prior to festival premieres I ask that everyone be patient until a future release date can be announced.
Now comes the fun part! - Les
